Author Guidelines

The International Journal of Agricultural Research, Innovation and Technology (IJARIT) publishes original research articles, short communications, and comprehensive review papers across all fields of agricultural and related biological sciences. 

Before submitting, please ensure your manuscript strictly adheres to the formatting, ethical, and structural guidelines outlined below. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to authors without peer review.

1. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

Original Research Articles: Full-length empirical studies presenting novel scientific findings. (Recommended length: 4,000–8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures).

Short Communications: Concise scientific reports presenting preliminary findings or significant single-experiment advances. (Maximum length: 2,500 words, up to 3 tables/figures).

Review Articles: Comprehensive, critical overviews of current topics within agricultural sciences. Reviews are typically solicited by the Editorial Board, but unsolicited proposals are welcome. (Recommended length: 6,000–10,000 words).

2. Manuscript Preparation & Formatting

Files must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (`.doc` or `.docx`).

General Mechanics
Page Layout: A4 paper size with standard 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.
Typography: Times New Roman, 12-point font size, 1.5 line spacing.
Line & Page Numbering: Continuous line numbering and page numbering must be enabled throughout the manuscript to facilitate peer review.

Anonymization for Double-Blind Review
To ensure an unbiased review process, authors must submit two separate files:
1. Title Page (File 1): Contains article title, full author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, and corresponding author contact details (email and phone). IJARIT_Title_Page_Template.docx
2. Main Manuscript (File 2): Contains title, abstract, keywords, and full text without any author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or self-identifying references. IJARIT_Manuscript_Template.docx

3. Manuscript Structure (IMRaD Format)

Main manuscripts should generally be structured into the following sequential sections:

Title & Abstract: The title should be concise, informative, and specific (maximum 20 words). Avoid abbreviations in the title. The abstract should be a single self-contained paragraph of 150 to 250 words. It should succinctly state the research rationale/objective, primary methodology, principal findings, and main conclusions. Do not include citations or undefined acronyms.

Keywords: Provide 4 to 6 relevant keywords immediately below the abstract (separated by semicolons) for indexation.

Main Text: The content should be set out into four major sections: (i) Introduction; (ii) Materials and Methods; (iii) Results and Discussion; (iv) Conclusion

1. Introduction: Contextualizes the study, highlights the scientific knowledge gap, states the hypothesis, and clearly defines the specific research objectives.
2. Materials and Methods: Describes experimental designs, field/laboratory procedures, sampling techniques, biological materials, and statistical methods in sufficient detail to allow replication. Standard protocols should be cited rather than described in full.
3. Results and Discussion: Results should be presented clearly using text, tables, and figures without duplication. Discussion must interpret the findings in relation to the existing scientific literature, highlighting their significance and implications.
4. Conclusion: Summarizes the main scientific contributions and highlights potential practical applications or future research directions.

4. Tables, Figures, and Scientific Notation

Tables: Tables must be created using Word's table tool (not pasted as images). Number tables consecutively using Arabic numerals (Table 1, Table 2) with a descriptive title above the table. Footnotes below the table should explain all non-standard abbreviations.
Figures & Graphs: Embed figures in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi for photos/maps, 600 dpi for line art) directly within the manuscript text near their first mention. Figure captions must be placed below the image.
Units & Symbols: Use standard International System of Units (SI units). Use scientific botanical/zoological names in italics with complete binomial nomenclature (e.g., Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze) at first mention.

5. Mandatory Statements & Declarations

At the end of the manuscript (before the References section), authors must include the following explicit statements:

Acknowledgments: Recognize technical support, field assistance, or institutional backing.
Funding Statement: Specify funding agencies, grant numbers, or explicitly state: This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.
Conflict of Interest: Declare any financial or personal competing interests. If none exist, state: The authors declare no conflict of interest.
Data Availability Statement: Explain where research data can be accessed (e.g., repository links, upon reasonable request, or included within the article).
Ethical Approval: For studies involving live vertebrate animals, field trials, or human surveys, state the approving Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Animal Ethics Committee name and reference/permit number.
Generative AI Disclosure: If AI tools were used during manuscript preparation, state the tool name, version, and specific purpose in the methodology or acknowledgments section.

6. Reference Style

IJARIT uses the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition referencing format.

In-Text Citations
Single author: (Ahmed, 2024)
Two authors: (Mamun and Rahman, 2025)
Three or more authors: (Mamun et al., 2026)
Multiple citations: Order chronologically (Islam, 2020; Ahmed, 2023; Roy et al., 2025)

Reference List Examples
References must be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript. Include DOIs whenever available.

7. Submission Checklist

Before uploading files to the online submission platform, confirm that:

  • Manuscript is formatted in 1.5 line spacing with continuous line numbering.
  • Title Page (File 1) and Main Manuscript (File 2) are separated for double-blind review.
  • Abstract is between 150–250 words with 4–6 keywords.
  • All tables and figures are numbered, captioned, and referenced in the text.
  • Required statements (Funding, Conflicts of Interest, Ethics, Data Availability) are included.
  • All citations in the text match the reference list, formatted according to APA 7th edition with DOIs
